Florida Cancer Specialists Casino Night at Armature Works

Some nights you shoot a party. Other nights you shoot a room full of people who showed up for something bigger than the party.

I spent the evening with the Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation at their casino night at Armature Works — cocktail hour, dinner, a live auction, casino tables, dancing, speeches, the works. From the first hand dealt to the last dance, the energy never dipped.

Here's what I love about charity galas: everybody in the room chose to be there. Nobody's working the room because they have to. They're laughing at the craps table, bidding with both hands, dancing like the night is going to fund something real, because it did. The night raised money that keeps a roof over someone's head during treatment.

Say what you want about casino nights. I've shot a lot of events, and this was one of the most genuinely joyful rooms I've ever been in. These are the frames that stuck with me.
